    • These are the ones that have been worn smooth by the pounding of the waves. Looking at the varieties of stones on the beach though, one cannot help but wonder from whence they have all come.

      • There was a beach I once visited in Carlsbad, CA, US that had worn-smooth stones of so many different colors that I wondered the same thing. How so many diverse minerals came to be at that spot? Perhaps a river eroding mountains emptying into the sea?
