I promised another view of a Migratory Locust (Locusta migratoria). This time, however, the tables have been turned and it is looking down on me! I was un-pegging the last of the dry laundry from the line when I came face to face with this locust just above my head:
It seemed to grin down at me:
Its stare was hard and unblinking:
The locust moved off nonchalantly:
Then came back in a flash of fearsomeness:
I picked up my laundry basket and bid it farewell, leaving it to continue with its migration.
Interesting looking dude (or dude-ess). As long as there’s just one.. you don’t want the whole family and their neighbours flying in…
