I met a man in the supermarket. He was in the greengrocer section, mingling with others like him who were silently watching the shoppers going about their business of picking and choosing what to buy. Some of his companions looked a little bruised and battered, while others were clean-shaven and shiny looking. This man turned his head away slightly as I approached. His mop of hair and large nose made it difficult for him to blend in with his companions though:
He looked a little bashful once he realised I was looking at him intently. In fact, I am sure that he was blushing from the neck up! “Good morning” I greeted him cheerfully, showing delight at the way he had cheered up my dreary early morning shopping expedition.
Perhaps one of these?

Exactly so! When I saw him I knew his visage would have to be shared.

I usually try to find at least one diversion to alleviate the tedium of shopping.

Little Red Riding Hood would have made a very unkind remark about his nose…

She would have! Fortunately my ‘man’ wasn’t showing either his teeth or his ears 🙂

Oh, how fun, Anne! Did he come home with you? (Or would that feel cannibalistic?) 😉

I couldn’t – a companion or two slipped into my basket though.

That’s a bit unsettling. Maybe I am lucky not to be going to the shops at the moment.

I presume ‘he’ went home with someone in the end.
