There is always a sense of anticipation whenever we enter a national park: what animal will we see first? On this day trip to the Addo Elephant National Park, zebras won hands down: they were everywhere!
Some ignored vehicles in order to continue grazing right next to the road.
This one was literally pulling up daisy-like plants.
It has been a good season for babies.
The herds of zebra were always accompanied by flocks of Cattle Egrets, eager to catch insects in their wake.
A wonderful set which had me checking differences in stripes

Ah, you will find them all different! The patterns on each zebra is unique – and their sides don’t match either 🙂

I am glad it has attracted your attention 🙂 It is a good one should you wish to compare their stripes, as Derrick has done.

I would have loved to see them in real life, but your photos are a close second. 🙂 Magnificent animals!

Magnificent they are: it wasn’t easy picking out only six of the many photographs I took of the zebras I saw yesterday.

So beautiful! What a thrill it must be to see them in person. And the baby was the cherry on the sundae.

We enjoyed seeing so many young ones – a lot of them asleep in the sun 🙂

There were so many of them all over the park – with a lot of foals mostly lying down in the heat.

You’ll hear no complaints from me if zebras were to be all we’d see!

The baby is sweet – I’m a sucker for baby animals. I never realized until I first saw your zebra photos, that zebras are not as svelte and streamlined looking as horses. I guess they don’t move like the wind like a horse does – perhaps that is why.

The zebras do appear to have ‘harder’ fur.
